These sinfully delicious whiskey-drenched cherries are a staple garnish in many of our cocktails. And they’re pretty tasty on ice cream, pound cake or just noshing on straight from the jar too! Double the recipe to make a large batch as these make an excellent gift for any cocktail enthusiast!
- 3 cups Rye or Bourbon Whiskey we like to use our Cherrywood Rye
- 2 cups turbinado sugar
- Juice of 1/2 orange + peel
- 3 lb cherries fresh or frozen
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 12- 8 oz canning jars
Combine the whiskey, sugar, vanilla extract, orange juice, and orange peel in a saucepan. Place over medium-high heat and bring to a simmer, whisking constantly until the sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes. Add cherries to the saucepan stir in and make sure cherries are well coated with syrup. Remove the pan from the heat. Pour the boozy cherries into a jar and seal. Allow the contents to cool to room temperature before transferring to the refrigerator. Chill for at least three days before using. The cherries will keep for up to 1 month. Double the recipe to make a large batch as these make an excellent gift for any cocktail enthusiast!
